HEALTH & LEISURE WALKS  

All welcome to guided, free, sociable, HDC walks led by trained volunteers; no need to book, just turn-up at the start point. A walks booklet is available from the Walks Co-ordinator on 07720 714306 or online at www.horsham.gov.uk/leisurepages/Leisure/sports/walking

Beginners are recommended to contact the Walk Leader: to discuss suitability. All walks can be wet and muddy in places. Forthcoming walks in the Woodmancote Parish and neighbouring areas are as follows:

Tue 3 & 17 Sep 11:00am Health Centre, Steyning 2 miles 75 mins

Walk 1502. Meet at Steyning Health Centre, Tanyard Lane, BN44 3RJ (TQ176113). Various routes, some inclines, one stile, takes in parts of Steyning and the outskirts. Can be muddy across fields, please wear sensible footwear. Toilets available in Health Centre. Ann 01903 297553 / Jacky 01903 815543

Walk 2904. A walk celebrating the success of the Edge to Edge project - bringing together community, craft and local heritage. Everyone welcome, meet the artist Luna Russell and hear about copper recycling and bunting made in communities along the Downs Link. edgetoedgeproject.co.uk

We walk from Partridge Green to Henfield for tea in St Peter’s Church and catch the bus back to Partridge Green. Well behaved dogs welcome. Timings as follows;

13:15 - Meet at St Michael’s Church, Church Ln, Partridge Green, Horsham, RH13 8JW in Partridge Green

13:30 - 15.30 - Walk/stroll along the Downs Link appreciating it's beauty and tranquillity to Henfield 4 miles

15:30 - 16.30 Tea and cake in St Michael’s Church in Henfield (toilet available here)

16:40 - Catch no 17 bus from Henfield High Street back to Partridge Green Jill 07780 701184

Thu 5 Sep 10:00am The Half Moon Warninglid - Crabtree Lakes 5.8 miles 2 hrs 45 mins

Walk 3008. Meet in the pub car park at the Warninglid crossroads (RH17 5TR, TQ250260). A circular walk through woods and farmland past lakes and Furnace Ponds. No stiles but a few short steep slopes and gradual inclines. Can be muddy in places. Good food and drink in the pub after the walk. No dogs. Geoff 01403 258180

Walk 1033. Meet Henfield Library, High Street, Henfield, BN5 9HN. Lovely walk around the twittens, ginnells and snickets of Henfield. May be extended if walkers wish to walk further. No dogs. Anne 01273 493671

Sat 14 Sep 10:30am NEW WALK Community Plastic Free Steyning Walk 3 - 4 miles 2 hrs

Walk 2905. Meet at Kings Barn Farm at the end of Kings Barn Lane, Steyning. OS Map 187115 The walk will take approximately 2 hours as we walk alongside the River Adur and down The Downs Link towards Henfield where we can stop for coffee and a bite to eat before catching the bus back to Steyning. The aim is to pick up tidal debris from beside the river. Walkers are encouraged to bring gloves and to wear walking boots. Families and dogs welcome. Ann 01903 297553

Sun 15 Sep 10:00am Findon Valley and Chanctonbury Ring 6.5 miles 2 hrs 30 mins

Walk 3015. Meet at Washington South Downs Way car park (TQ120119). Drive south on the A24 from Washington roundabout and take the first left into Washington Borstal. Take the rough track on the right to the car park. Explore the downland from Washington in the direction of Church Wood, Findon Park, and return via Chanctonbury Ring and the South Downs Way.
